Back in January when I thrifted this bundle of yarn from our local Goodwill brick and mortar even I thought I was being a little foolish. I don't care for boucle or baby yarn, and the color yellow is my least favorite. So why was I thrifting all this yellow boucle baby yarn? Because I wanted to see if I could get over my dislike of all three.
I already have some white baby boucle yarn in my stash, so I combined that with the yellow and orange/yellow/white boucle variegated and started making a big beautiful basket.
It was slow going at first. Boucle yarn has almost zero stitch definition, so I had to feel the stitches, which I can do but it's been a while since I had to. All that yellow in my face wasn't making me too happy, either.
By the second night I got into the swing of crocheting boucle, and the basket worked up quickly from there.
Here's the end result. It's fuzzy, and admittedly the colors are still not my favorite, but I have warmed up to boucle yarn quite a bit now.
The stitching looks pretty despite the lack of stitch definition. I also like the gradient effect that the variegated boucle gave to the project.
I have enough yarn left to make another basket, so I'll definitely do that. A good experiment. :)
