I'm taking a month off thrifting in March to save up for some other things. As I write this post I'm only four days in, and I'm already chafing at the bit. I've gotten so into the habit of thrifting everything I need that it seems odd not to be thrifting. At the same time I know I don't need anything (I stocked up in advance last month.)
Thrifting isn't just about saving money, although that's the main reason I do it. I love looking for bargains and figuring out how much I can save via thrifting. I'm also committed to reusing and repurposing versus buying new whenever I can. It's good for the planet and the future.
Thing is, what do I do when I'm not going to be thrifting?
Finishing up the Sherwood throw is top of my to-do list. It's also very calming and mindless to work on, which I need before I jump into a new project.
I've begun printing out patterns and swatching to see what I want to make with my Sweet Roll haul. I love this yarn and I want to make sure I use it to make something fun.
Using what I have versus thrifting more is another way I can avoid temptation. Over on my other blog I'll be talking about making this month's quilted tote for my calendar project out of this vintage curtain I thrifted last year.
I didn't realize how addicted I am to thrifting, so it's good for me to take a break and slow down. I might go another month of no thrifting in April just so I use more of what I have instead of adding to it. :)
