A lot from the online auction just arrived, and while it doesn't look too impressive, it's actually one of my better thrifts this year.
There are 22 skeins and balls of yarn, mostly Red Heart acrylic, along with a pile of scrap bits.
This Hobby Lobby yarn retails for $4.99 and it hasn't been used. Red Heart Super Saver currently retails for $4.99 per skein, too, and there's plenty of it.
More Red Heart variegated in Monet for my collection. I now have enough to do a huge project with it.
The little pile of scraps tugs at my heart.
All of the yarn can be used and most of it is in colors I frequently use. Three skeins are the perfect shades for a purse I want to make. I do like Red Heart yarn quite a bit as an all-around workhorse yarn, especially for projects I want to make sturdy, which is why I bid on the lot.
Nine of the skeins including the Hobby Lobby have not been used; the other thirteen are partials with about 50% to 75% of the yarn left. I would put the resale value at $44.91 for the unused yarn and $32.50 for the used, for a total value of $77.41.
Here's why it's such a nice thrift: I paid $7.99 for the lot, or thirty-six cents per skein. Getting this much yarn for less than eight dollars is a wonderful bargain.
