One of the wonderful surprises I had during my vacation was learning that my favorite person is teaching herself how to crochet. Now I'm looking for simple projects to pass along to her to help her learn how to read patterns and make different wearables. For the first project I tested the Home All Day Slipper Socks pattern by Jennifer Dickerson. A beginner who wants to learn how to crochet socks should start with an easy tube structure like this one, made entirely of double crochet stitches that repeats and doesn't really require the maker to count stitches; you just work in the round. This is also a one-skein project, using a single cake of Premier Sweet Roll yarn. I've reviewed this yarn before , and it is a lovely 100% acrylic in a generous 5 oz./140 gram cake with 245 yards/224 meters.
