On day three of working on the mystery pattern that a friend challenged me to make without knowing what it was, I was fairly certain it was the 6 day star blanket. Here's how far I got.
Day four got this much more finished. Since it was already fairly large I checked the instructions, which said to repeat the second set of rows until the throw reached 60" across.
Day five after I reached the final row that made the throw 60" across. I sent a picture to my friend, who confirmed that it was the 6 day star blanket. Oops.
How did I get it done in five rather than six days? I am pretty fast, but I also used worsted weight yarn. I think most makers use a lighter weight like sport or DK when they make theirs. I chose the worsted weight because it was the yarn I'd pulled to make something for Valentine's Day but didn't have time to do anything. I thought the colors turned out pretty, almost like a peppermint star.
The pattern proved problematic for me, and not because my friend removed all the references to the name of the project. As it's a pretty throw I have no desire to insult the designer, so let's just blame me for disliking the pattern. About halfway through the first repeat of the second set I abandoned the instructions and simply made the throw in a logical fashion. It turned out fine.
What's next for me? I have no idea. :)
