For the eighth band of the Iris throw I used a thrifted 3.5 oz. skein of Bernat Giggles 90% acrylic 10% nylon in Periwinkle Purple. This is the exact same yarn as the Cheerful Blue that gave me all the problems, but in a different color.
This wasn't as horrible as the Cheerful Blue, but I did notice the yarn unraveling slightly in some places as I pulled it from the skein.
Although like the other one the skein is new, I guessed I would run out of it on the final row, so I pulled a couple of similar scrylic yarns from my stash to keep on standby.
The fact that I ran out of yarn by the middle of the ninth row proves I'm psychic. :) I decided to go with the lighter lavender stash yarn to finish it, as lighter is always less noticeable than darker.
I'm happy with the way it turned out, considering -- and now I've used up all the Bernat Giggles yarn in my stash, which makes me happy, too. This line is going on my do-not-thrift list.
I'll be crocheting the next three bands with Starlette, Sweet Roll and Pound of Love skeins that I've already reviewed, so my next update will be when the throw is finished. Stay tuned to the blog to see how it turns out.
