Herrschners mystery bag arrived last month, and was the first of the three mystery bags I ordered to land on my doorstep. It was also the cheapest (I actually ordered two bags.) Let's see what I got.
Two bags of mill ends. I really like mill ends, too. One has three skeins in what appears to be a worsted weight in a pretty turquoise, and the other has four skeins of what appears to be bulky weight in a soft light gray (I'm not opening the bags until I want to use the yarn.) Each are 14 oz, and the colors are very pretty.
They included a catalog that is full of yarn and yarn kit porn. Something to look and dream, I suppose.
The numbers: I paid $13.98 for these seven skeins of mystery yarn, which works out to $1.99 per skein, not a bad price at all. Shipping and handling and tax were were $11.63, for a grand total of $25.61.
My thoughts: On the upside, I love that I got multiples of two colors; I was expecting a hodge podge of single close out skeins. Being the cheapest, I thought I would get maybe one or two skeins per bag, so I'm thrilled with seven. This is a good bargain, and a lovely selection, plus the shipping was fast. No downside for me.
