My nephew asked me to crochet an amigurumi giraffe for his daughter, so I have my first commission since, well, ever. I think it will be fun, and my grandniece will be pleased with the results.
He did ask that I make the giraffe out of chenille yarn, of which I have only a very small supply, and not in the proper colors for the project. My guy wanted me to get some new yarn and offered to pay for it, so we went to Michael's while we were down in the city getting the car serviced. I found these comparable if not perfect color matches to the pattern.
I was already braced for high prices, and when I saw the total at the register I was again reminded of why I thrift yarn: $42.76 with tax. For four skeins!
Ah, well. I will do my best to make the best giraffe ever for my grandniece. :)
