I was able to thrift a summer t-shirt and a pair of really pretty floral jeans for basically a song. They're both in like new condition, and they'll make a nice addition to my summer wardrobe. But how much did I save by thrifting rather than buying new?
The t-shirt is Simply Vera Wang, which is designer, and those retail for $25.00 to $30.00 at a Kohl's in my area. The exact same Faded Glory jeans are currently selling on eBay for $13.00. So let's say the outfit is worth at least $38.00.
Goodwill has a 50% off sale every week for one color tag on their merchandise, which I took advantage of on this trip and looked for clothes with that discounted color tag. That's why the t-shirt only cost me a dollar, and the jeans cost $3.50. That's $4.50 for a new outfit, and my definition of a song. :)
